Germany is a leading light in the shift to sustainable personal and mass transport, with companies from its eastern states making a central contribution to new mobility concepts as well as the development of the infrastructure to support them.

There are over 300 companies in the region working on future mobility. Specialisms include optimised battery management, smart charging infrastructure and new concepts for fleet management and multimodal transport. The firms range in size from dynamic start-ups, to globally active OEMs, all working to bring practical solutions to the road.

Eastern German industry is a European leader in new battery technology, hydrogen and alternative biofuels. The largest biorefinery in Europe is currently being built in Saxony-Anhalt, while Tesla has committed to Brandenburg because of the region’s established excellence in future mobility technologies.
